David M. – Averitt Express Read More Testimonials >Johnston & Associates participates generously in charitable and fund raising causes near and dear to their hearts: specifically childhood cancer. When Larisa Hensiek’s daughter, Lily, was just seven years old, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Lily is doing very well, having recently completed two and a half years of chemotherapy. One of her greatest desires when first diagnosed was that other kids would not have to suffer, so she desired to raise money for research to eliminate childhood cancer. Her goal is to raise $1 million, and she and Johnston & Associates are well on their way through Lily’s Garden funds with Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Armstrong is Co-director of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute Cancer Program and Co-director of the Leukemia program in the Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center. Lily’s Garden Endowed Research Fund
This fund awards money to cancer researchers for exploration through long-term research efforts. The goal of Lily’s Garden Endowed Research Fund is to encourage young doctors and scientists in the area of innovative new therapies, and of course, to ultimately cure childhood cancer.
In addition to Lily’s Garden and donating time and money, since 2009 Johnston & Associates has participated each year in Franklin 4 the Cure, a concert and 5K race put on by the Westhaven Foundation. This year’s concert took place on September 17, 2011. Johnston & Associates and Lily also help with fundraising for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital through the Belk fashion show.
